Boudoir Slipper Chair in the Crapaud Manner, Tufted Back with Ruffle Skirt, 1980s
A thoroughly charming low boudoir chair in the Victorian crapaud tradition, produced in the 1980s at the height of the romantic English country house revival.
Fully upholstered throughout in a large-scale blowsy rose chintz blush, peach, sage, and cream on a satin-finish ground, with dusky pink twisted cord piping defining every edge and seam. The back is generously proportioned with a scroll-over top rail and deep-buttoned front, the circular seat is double-piped and well-cushioned, and the fully upholstered barrel base terminates in a gathered ruffle skirt that completes the confection.
Upholstery in good overall condition commensurate of age.
