Mid-Century Italian Bamboo and Rattan Hat and Coat Stand Bonacina Manner C.1960

A sculptural hall stand in the manner of Bonacina.
Constructed in natural bamboo and cane, the tripod base of four splayed, bowed legs bound in cane with a circular stretcher, rising to a slender turned pole. The crown fans into a tiered arrangement of looped bentwood hooks and ball-finial pegs, bound at the collar with woven cane. A form closely associated with the Italian riviera bamboo workshops of the period.
