A pair of oak side chairs in the vernacular Cotswold tradition, each with a tall four-rail ladder back rising to scrolled "ram's-horn" terminals, the rails shaped and waisted between square-section uprights. Solid plank seats of jointed oak boards, set on square tapering legs with reeded decoration to the front pair, joined by a box stretcher set low to the floor.
Construction is honest and workmanlike pegged and pinned seat boards, exposed joinery in the manner popularised by Gimson and Ernest Barnsley.
Very good condition; consistent wear and patina between the pair.
