Pair Large Mid-Century Stoneware Floor Vases with Flambe Glaze, Belgium C.1950

Pair of Extra Large Mid-Century Stoneware Floor Vases with Flambe Glaze, Belgium C.1950

A striking and well-matched pair of large-scale stoneware vases of organic bullet form, the elongated ovoid bodies rising from a narrow oval foot to a compressed slit mouth, the profile gently faceted into four lobes. Covered throughout in a finely granular powder-blue ground glaze, dramatically interrupted by cascading flambe drips in deep crimson, olive, and dark brown.
The contrast between the matt-textured blue ground and the high-gloss drip passages is exceptional, and the scale (57 cm high) commands immediate presence.

Period: Mid-20th century
Medium: Stoneware with flambe reduction glaze
Dimensions: H 57 cm, W 29 cm, D 15 cm (each)
Condition: Good overall; glaze consistent with intended flambe firing; minor surface marks commensurate with age; no chips or restoration.
